Bigger campaigns, planned by the squadrons that fly them.

The 639th is where DCS World squadrons meet to plan larger campaigns together. We provide the standards, processes and tools. Your squadron keeps its own people, schedule and procedures.

The 639th CAOC patch

What your squadron gets

The 639th is an invite-only coalition of independent DCS squadrons. It doesn't plan campaigns itself. It gives squadrons a common way to plan them together, so every member group gets a bigger, better organized fight than it could run on its own.

Fly packages your squadron can't build alone

Your strike flight gets real escorts, SEAD and CAP from other squadrons, all flying the same war. Squadrons plan multi-squadron packages together and brief them together, so a four-ship on a Saturday night is part of something much bigger.

Tankers, AWACS and controllers when you need them

Squadrons pool what they have: tankers, AWACS, ground controllers, servers and mods. A shared ledger shows what each squadron can offer and what others need, so nobody has to field everything themselves.

Your squadron stays yours

The 639th's standards only cover what crosses squadron lines. Your roster, training nights, SOPs and your own campaigns stay exactly as they are. Nothing is binding on your group unless your own liaison agrees to it, and you can sit out any campaign without leaving.

  • One way of working

The 639th sets the standards: common formats for the tasking order, airspace order and comm plan, shared terms, and tools that draft them. A volunteer can claim a tasking without ever reading the charter.

  • One shared world

Member squadrons write each combined campaign around a single fictional theater: one enemy, one map, one story. Every squadron flying it is fighting the same war.

  • A real seat at the table

Each squadron sends one liaison officer to the AOC Board. The coordinating seats rotate between member squadrons every campaign, so no single squadron runs the coalition.

  • Briefed before you fly

Comm plans, timelines and the full tasking order reach every participating squadron ahead of the event, not on the night.

Ask for help, or lend it

Squadrons post what their part of the campaign needs, and other squadrons claim it. Requests reach your own Discord as lines on the air tasking order, only for airframes you fly. Try one: this is what your liaison sees.

  1. A squadron posts a need

Any member squadron can ask for help with its part of the campaign: an escort, a tanker, a SEAD flight. The request is checked against the campaign's goals and written up as an ATO line.

  2. It reaches squadrons that can fill it

The line lands in the Discord channel of every squadron that flies the airframe it needs, with a Buy or Pass prompt.

  3. Your liaison picks Buy or Pass

First Buy wins, and you have 15 minutes to back out of a mistaken claim. Lines nobody claims go to the AOC Board to assign or drop.

  4. Your planners take it from there

Your squadron builds the mission its own way. Before the event, the full ATO, airspace order and comm plan go out to every participating squadron.

What we ask in return

  • One liaison officer who can speak for your squadron and Buy or Pass on its behalf.
  • A short registration: the airframes you fly, and the 639th bot added to your Discord server so taskings land in the right channel.
  • Run the taskings you claim through your own planning, and fly them as briefed.
  • When your squadron's turn comes up, take one of the rotating coordinating seats for a campaign.
  • Now and then, some give. A campaign night might clash with your schedule, or the line you get might not be your first pick. That's the cost of a bigger fight, and we'll always say so up front.
